    1. Thank you. Glad you agree!
In the show, Buffy says once she’s a Capricorn/Aquarius cusp but there’s no way she is in my opinion, other than the obvious theme of responsibility. I’ve spent too many decades believing her to be an Aries to change my mind ha!

  1. Not to dismiss the work you put into this…but Buffy clearly stated (more than once) that she is a Capricorn (born January 19th, 1981, which would make her Moon in Cancer and Rising Sign presumably in Taurus),which I feel suits her a great deal! Capricorn is her reason, her everything. She is defined by her work as ‘the Vampire Slayer’. However, her work isn’t what she loves – it’s her Cancer Moon in the 3rd House. Buffy’s friends and family, the people she comes home to is Buffy’s secret life and her reason for living. Even when those people may see her as stubborn and superficial and strong (all Taurus traits). Even her fighting style is astrologically significant – her Mars is in Aquarius, making her a natural at improvising and unusual methods to dispatch vampires, all while quipping. There is a strong desire for freedom, hence Buffy’s strong dislike of the Council.

Funnily enough, Buffy shares a birthday with Drusilla!

Now, Tara’s birthday is October 16th, making her a Libra. Sensitive, dislikes conflict. They want nothing more than for everyone to be at peace and will sacrifice their own happiness to achieve this. I can’t imagine Tara being anything else.

I don’t think anyone else’s birthdays were ever mentioned on the show. Depending on when/where the Scoobies were born though, their Moon/Rising/Ascendant signs may align otherwise.

In the pilot draft though, Buffy claims she is a Gemini with a Sagittarius Moon. Joss must have changed his mind by Season 2.

    1. Thanks for your comment, you raise some interesting ideas. She does indeed say (as I noted in the comment above yours) that she is a Capricorn/Aquarius cusp in an episode in Season 4, although as her birthday is given as Jan 19th that would make her a fully fledged Capricorn, as you put.
In my opinion, the personality traits (and thus implied astrological placements) of fictional characters are open to interpretation and due to Whedon’s knack for idiosyncratic characterisation, I’ve had ideas about who fits to what sign since the 90s. The linked posts have my reasoning in them in light-hearted paragraphs. My reasoning for defying the dates given is that I believe Whedon probably didn’t care too much about what their signs were and that could be why her sign magically changes from the pilot to the show, but maybe he does care.
The detailed analysis you’ve given of Buffy’s character with regard to her sun, moon & ascendant is very well-written and an intruiging viewpoint to consider.
